PENGHU GREAT BRIDGE

During any travel in Penghu, tour or, for that matter, things that the travelers must not miss are taking a commemorative photo with Peng Hu’s historic bridge. Penghu Great Bridge, the first bridge built on daring the deepest sea in Southeast Asia. Decades ago, according to the water currents between Baisha Island and the West Isle, it’s too treacherous for fisherman or people to sail, so the Penghu government figured out the way to manage the problem by establishing the bridge to link Baisha Island and the West Isle, therefore, what the people worry was totally resolved. The bridge was finished the construction in 1970 with a total length of 2494 meters. Walking the length of the bridge, absorbing the majestic oceanic vistas, listening to the roaring tides and the whisper of wind and sea, is a very uniquely refreshing experience to touch by just within your sight

WHALE CAVE

Whale Cave is a natural basalt sea cave on the northern side of Hsiaomen Island in Penghu with a visually dramatic sight, plus a clear and calm water, full of steep cliffs, basalt formations, shallow coves and headlands. Roughly pay attention in details, people will find out a hole in a rock that kinda-sorta seems like a swimming whale. Many people think that the name was called according to its shape, but with some reasons, a true original name was not from them. The actual reason to clarify a doubt of the cave’s name began since a long time ago, there was a whale (yes, it’s a real whale) stuck in the cave, and lastly, with an unfortunate luck, it perished. Therefore, people took a story to establish the name of cave. The area covers a cool atmosphere due to the sea breeze blowing throughout the day. Additionally, travelers can also watch the sunset when the dusk comes to approach the sky, it’s spoken much of the unique beauty

ERKAN OLD RESIDENCES

Erkan Old Residence, Penghu’s only really ‘complete’ traditional village, appealingly sets on emerald slopes raised above the blue sea, where preserves the old-styled house architecture to still live in a great spirit. The interesting things about this old village is the wisdom of the decoration. Virtually all of the 50 or so homes have round-ridged, red-tile roofs and coral stone walls to build to make it strong, durable and a unique beauty in classic southern Fujian and Western style and seem mostly hail from the early 20th century. Rustic, yet refined simplicity highlights the skills of its builders. Catering for the regular flow of tourists, almost all homes double as shops or cafes, each with their own specialty to be picked while you’re enjoying a walk.

YUWENGDAO LIGHTHOUSE

The lighthouse tower or people introduce as Xiyu Lighthouse, the first lighthouse tower in Taiwan, located in Wai’an Village on Xiyu Island. Began the construction in 1778, and it was used to send alarms between Taiwan and China. As the earliest lighthouse in Taiwan and the only lighthouse still using traditional clockwork to rotate the light. The original pagoda lighthouse marked the haven of Magong on the shipping route between Taiwan, Fukien and Amoy that was in use by over 300 years ago. Yuwengdao Lighthouse features a cast iron cylindrical body coated with a gorgeous pure white exterior glistening under the sparkling sunlight in the day and stands out by itself bravely in the night, it’s difficult for travelers not to notice it from afar. At present, it’s now listed as historical site. People can overlook the famous spectacleXiyu rapid stream, which publicly opens for visitors.

KUI BISHAN RECREATION AREA

The most famous beach on Penghu Islands. It’s outstanding in its beauty of the white sandy beach. During the low season, the water appears a pathway which travelers can walk through to see the islands in the middle of the sea, faces the inland sea, with a sweeping view toward Magong far across the water, it gives several tourists come to visit, stroll down along a scene of shoal, watch the sunset and enjoy a serene end to a day of beauty and inspiration.

TWIN HEARTS STONE WEIR

The unique and famous one that can only see in Penghu. Twin Hearts Stone Weir is located in Qimei Towership. A large-scaled collection is collected in the intertidal zone between Taiwan’s Penghu Islands, it’s a very stunning place with blue, green and ocean background. There is romantic and beautiful double-hearted artificial stone Shanghai hidden. Human always finds a way to survive, people said, it was built by a group of fishermen that gathered to figure out how much fish could be added in winter and how much family expenses cold be maintained. Surprisingly and unexpectedly, after decades, Twin Hearts Stone Weir becomes a scenic spot for advertisers and government propaganda and sightseeing because of its beautiful shape, the two hearts appears intertwined. Moreover, lots of honeymooners often visit to celebrate their time together at this symbol of love.

FUN MARATHON IN PENGHU

For the reason to promote and boost the tourism in Taiwan, therefore it made this annual project happen, “vacation running & traveling culture.” Taiwan Tourism Bureau under Ministry of Transportation and Communications demonstrates a plan to organize “Cross-Sea & IslandHopping Penghu Marathon.” The event is fortunate to have such a prestigious designer bringing life and color to the marathon, Master Xiao Qing-Yang, a famous Independent Music Awards winner and Grammy Award-nominated designer. The race way is the conventional circular course, which starts A and finish A. People who wants to join a run, there are both marathon (42 km) and half marathon (21km) courses and for those who’re not ready to run the full marathon or a half marathon, even 5 km marathon will also take place, all is measured and certified by AIMS. Race starts through those natural scenery; Xiyu (the West Islet), the Penghu Great Bridge, Baisha (Penghu’s 3rd biggest island in Penghu), Zhongtum (Penghu’s 11th biggest island) and the finish at Penghu Islands. While you’re running against the headwinds, you would be seeing the scenic view throughout the race.
