Sun PhuQuoc Airways introduces the first full-service experience on the direct Bangkok–Phu Quoc route, with all-inclusive one-way fares starting from THB 2,250

travellers from Thailand will have a new way to discover Phu Quoc –Vietnam’s rising island destination known for its pristine beaches, luxury resorts and vibrant leisure experiences – with Sun PhuQuoc Airways operating direct flights between Bangkok and Phu Quoc in just approximately one hour and 20 minutes.

The launch of the Bangkok–Phu Quoc route marks the airline’s next strategic step in its “Rise to Asia” network expansion, further strengthening regional connectivity between Phu Quoc and key travel markets across Asia, including Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Vietnam’s first full-service airline connecting the two destinations

The inaugural Bangkok–Phu Quoc flight is scheduled to commence on 8 August 2026 with a frequency of one daily service, offering travellers a seamless and time-efficient connection between Thailand’s vibrant capital and Vietnam’s premier island getaway.

Currently dominated by low-cost carriers, the route presents a growing opportunity for premium leisure travel. Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ entry into the market represents more than simply an additional flight option – it introduces a distinctly elevated full-service experience integrated with a broader luxury hospitality ecosystem.

Beyond the flight itself, Sun PhuQuoc Airways extends the travel experience through Sun Group’s integrated destination ecosystem, creating a seamless journey from departure to arrival. Guests can complete flight check-in directly at participating hotels before enjoying access to the premium Sun Executive Lounge, transforming travel time into a natural extension of the holiday itself.

To celebrate the launch of the new Bangkok–Phu Quoc route, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is introducing special promotional fares starting from THB 2,250* one-way, inclusive of taxes and fees, applicable for flights departing within the first month of operations. Passengers travelling on the Bangkok–Phu Quoc route will also enjoy a 20% discount on base fares from 11 June 2026 to 10 July 2026. Beyond the flight itself, travellers flying with Sun PhuQuoc Airways will receive complimentary tickets to the Sun World Hon Thom cable car, alongside exclusive privileges of up to 30% on accommodation, dining, wellness and entertainment experiences across Sun Group’s integrated hospitality ecosystem in southern Phu Quoc.

The Bangkok–Phu Quoc route has been developed in response to the growing demand for short-haul leisure travel and weekend getaways among Thai travellers. With a flight time of just over one hour, a visa-free entry policy and an increasingly diverse mix of leisure and entertainment experiences, Phu Quoc is emerging as an appealing tropical escape for Thailand’s growing premium travel market.

“Two Countries, One Destination”

Beyond meeting growing travel demand between Thailand and Vietnam, the new route also opens the door to deeper tourism cooperation between the two countries.

During a recent meeting with Thailand’s Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of Sun Group, proposed the “Two Countries, One Destination” initiative – a vision aimed at connecting some of the region’s most celebrated island destinations, including Phu Quoc, Phuket, and Koh Samui. Looking ahead, the initiative envisions an expanded network linking Phu Quoc, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City with Phuket and Chiang Mai, creating new multi-destination travel opportunities across Southeast Asia.

Within this vision, Bangkok plays a pivotal role as a regional gateway, enabling international travellers to seamlessly experience the diverse cultural, leisure and coastal attractions of both Vietnam and Thailand within a single journey. The launch of Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ direct Bangkok–Phu Quoc service therefore represents more than a new air route. It lays the foundation for future cross-border tourism products and strengthens connectivity between two of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic travel markets.

At the heart of this vision lies Phu Quoc itself — an emerging island destination whose growing appeal is helping reshape regional travel patterns. Known for its white-sand beaches, luxury resorts and integrated leisure experiences, Phu Quoc offers a more relaxed island lifestyle that combines tropical scenery with world-class hospitality and entertainment. The island’s expanding portfolio of resorts, wellness offerings and lifestyle attractions is further strengthening its appeal among premium leisure travellers across the region.

Beyond point-to-point leisure demand, the new route is also expected to strengthen Phu Quoc’s regional accessibility via Bangkok, one of Southeast Asia’s major aviation hubs, opening additional opportunities for the island to access wider international traveller flows.

The appeal of the route is further reinforced by Phu Quoc’s long-term infrastructure vision on the ground. Under the operation of Sun Group and with strategic guidance from Changi Airports International, Phu Quoc International Airport is steadily evolving towards a globally recognized “destination airport” model.

Most recently, the airport signed a strategic partnership with SITA to pioneer Southeast Asia’s first fully integrated self-service airport model. Biometric technologies are expected to be implemented across the entire passenger journey, from self-service check-in kiosks and automated baggage drop systems to boarding gates.

Together, the synergy between Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ premium inflight experience and Phu Quoc’s next-generation airport infrastructure is set to deliver a seamless, technology-enabled and internationally aligned travel journey – reinforcing the island’s emergence as one of Vietnam’s most dynamic new international gateways.
