Nattareutai Thanapoomikul, General Manager, Hotel Indigo Bangkok Thonglor
For Nattareutai Thanapoomikul, known to friends and colleagues as Aimmy, a hotel begins long before the first guest checks in.
It starts with an empty space, a neighbourhood waiting to be explored, and a collection of stories waiting to be brought together. While many people see a new hotel as a building project, Aimmy sees something else entirely: the opportunity to create a place with its own character, energy, and sense of belonging.
That perspective has shaped more than 15 years with IHG Hotels & Resorts, a journey that began as an intern at InterContinental Bangkok and gradually unfolded across operational roles in both Thailand and China. Along the way, she developed a reputation not only for strong commercial performance and people-focused leadership, but also for her ability to bring teams together around a shared vision. Her progression through IHG’s Future Leaders and General Manager development programmes eventually led her to become one of the youngest General Managers in the company’s history.
Yet titles have never been the part of the job that excites her most.
Throughout her career, Aimmy has been drawn to the challenge and excitement of hotel pre-openings. She enjoys the rare moment when everything is still possible, when a property exists only as an idea and every decision helps shape what it will eventually become. From defining guest experiences and building workplace culture to creating meaningful relationships with the surrounding community, she believes the strongest hotels are those that feel connected to the places they call home.
That belief makes Hotel Indigo Bangkok Thonglor a particularly meaningful project.
Inspired by Hotel Indigo’s philosophy of celebrating the individuality of every neighbourhood, the hotel draws its identity from one of Bangkok’s most distinctive districts. For Aimmy, Thonglor is much more than a popular address. It is a neighbourhood of contrasts and character, where long-time local residents share the streets with artists, entrepreneurs, café owners, and visitors from around the world. Its personality is found not only in its well-known restaurants and nightlife, but also in the quieter stories hidden behind them.
Her goal is to ensure those stories become part of the guest experience.
From design details and local collaborations to carefully curated rituals and neighbourhood-inspired experiences, every element of the hotel has been shaped to reflect the spirit of Thonglor. Rather than simply offering a place to stay, she hopes guests leave with a deeper understanding of the community around them and a stronger connection to the neighbourhood itself.
Known for her positive outlook and genuine enthusiasm for hospitality, Aimmy continues to be guided by a simple belief: that great hotels are ultimately about people. They create connections, celebrate individuality, and leave lasting impressions that extend well beyond the walls of a building.
As Hotel Indigo Bangkok Thonglor prepares to welcome its first guests, she is looking forward to opening more than just a new hotel. She is opening the door to a neighbourhood and inviting travellers to discover the stories that make it unique
