Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa announces the opening of Yunami, a new coastal izakaya restaurant located at Mai Khao Beach. Inspired by the social spirit of traditional Japanese dining, Yunami brings together carefully curated sushi, charcoal-grilled yakimono, and a social dining experience shaped by the rhythm of the coast.
Drawn from the Japanese word Yunami (夕波), meaning “evening waves,” the restaurant takes inspiration from the ever-changing shoreline. Just as the coast transforms throughout the day, Yunami evolves from relaxed daytime dining destination to a vibrant evening gathering place, offering an experience that feels equally inviting from lunch through late evening. As one of the newest dining concepts in Phuket’s Mai Khao area, Yunami introduces a fresh interpretation of the coastal izakaya experience, blending Japanese culinary traditions with the relaxed energy of the Andaman coastline.
The menu is designed around sharing and discovery. From premium sushi and fresh sashimi to crispy fried bites, and a variety of curated dishes, each plate showcases Japanese flavors prepared with precision and care. At the helm of Yunami is Chef Ashish Rai, whose culinary philosophy has been shaped by more than a decade of international experience across four countries, complemented by extensive training with Japanese chefs. His approach balances respect for traditional Japanese techniques with fresh ingredients and accessible, contemporary style, bringing the restaurant’s coastal izakaya concept to life.
