Marriott International Signs Agreement To Debut Jw Marriott In Fiji

Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR) has signed an agreement with Dubbo Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), to introduce JW Marriott to Fiji with JW Marriott Fiji Resort & Spa. Located on Denarau Island, the property is slated to feature 282 keys and is expected to open in Q1 2027, with reservations anticipated to open in December 2026.

The signing marks the planned debut of the JW Marriott brand in the Pacific Islands, expanding Marriott’s existing portfolio in the region with the addition of its first luxury brand resort. Inspired by J. Willard Marriott’s approach to life, JW Marriott offers a haven where every detail is thoughtfully considered, allowing guests to be fully present and focus on what matters most – the whole self; mind, body and spirit.

This signing is part of a conversion deal of the existing Westin Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, a much-loved location with an important place in Fiji’s hospitality history. The ambition behind the introduction of the JW Marriott brand is to set a new benchmark for luxury hospitality, and to strengthen Fiji’s position in the luxury travel market to meet traveller demands for luxury tourism experiences.

JW Marriott Fiji Resort & Spa is expected to feature thoughtfully designed spaces that invite guests to slow down, reconnect and be fully present. Plans include premium guestrooms and suites, two-bedroom villas with private swimming pools, a large family pool and a dedicated adults-only pool with a poolside bar and dining.

A new lobby and communal areas will draw the natural surroundings indoors, fostering a deeper connection to place, while dedicated kids club and a teen zone are expected to deliver an enhanced experience for guests of all ages.

The resort’s extensive bar and dining offering is planned to include an all-day dining restaurant bringing together global flavours and Pacific traditions; JW Market, offering casual all-day refreshments and grab-and-go options; a specialty restaurant drawing on Japanese influences with locally sourced ingredients; a wine and cocktail-focused lounge; and an elevated dining and cultural experience rooted in Fijian tradition.

“Fiji is one of the Pacific’s most compelling resort destinations, and we are excited to work with Fiji National Provident Fund to introduce JW Marriott to the market. JW Marriott’s focus on mindful experiences, meaningful connections and holistic well-being is a natural complement to the resort’s beautiful natural setting on Denarau Island. We look forward to creating a destination where guests can come together, be present and experience the warmth of Fiji through the lens of this exceptional luxury brand,” said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific Excluding China, Marriott International.

Fiji National Provident Fund Chief Executive Officer Viliame Vodonaivalu, said: “As custodians of our members’ retirement savings, every investment decision we make is centred on creating long-term value for the people of Fiji. The introduction of JW Marriott is a significant milestone for one of our key tourism assets and reflects our confidence in the future of Fiji’s tourism industry. Through this collaboration, we are not only strengthening an important investment on behalf of our members, but also supporting an industry that creates jobs, attracts visitors and contributes to the growth of our economy. We are proud to see this iconic Fijian resort enter a new chapter with one of the world’s leading luxury hospitality brands.”

Designed for life’s celebrations, business gatherings and special events, JW Marriott Fiji Resort & Spa is planned to feature a 309-square-metre ballroom, a 490-square-metre pre-function foyer, and five dedicated meeting rooms. The ballroom is planned to accommodate up to 180 guests in a banquet seating.

Upon opening, JW Marriott Fiji Resort & Spa is expected to provide Marriott Bonvoy members and travellers with a restorative luxury retreat on Denarau Island, where JW Marriott’s mindful approach to hospitality comes together with Fiji’s rich culture, nourishing culinary and wellness experiences, and meaningful moments of connection.
