MUSEUM OF ISLAMIC ART

Qatar Airways flies from Doha to Bangkok 4 times a day and each flight takes approximately 7 hours.

Museum of Islamic Art holds a fine collection of Islam-related arts. The unique Cubism architecture of the museum makes it stands out against Doha skyline and the top of the building is designed to look like a woman wearing a hijab. The museum has the most extensive collection of ancient artefacts in the Middle East, and unlike many museums in this part of the world, photos are allowed here.

THE CORNICHE

Located on a 7 km strip of road that runs along the harbor, The Corniche is a popular scenic spot to experience spectacular evening scene of Doha. The Corniche is a good spot to visit during the day, but it gets much more spectacular and cooler during the evening and night.

THE PEARL ISLAND

The Pearl Island is and artificial island set just outside of the city center and it houses Doha’s largest port and marina. The sea around the island is clear and beautiful, but the main attraction is really on the island. Classic colonial style buildings on The Pearl really remind you of Venice, and at the same time it is the commercial center and full of shops and restaurants, as well as occasional exciting events for you to explore.

KATARA CULTURAL VILLAGE

Katara Cultural Village is a great place to experience different aspect of Doha’s culture. The large mosque in the center of the village is the heart of Katara and it’s surrounded by an opera house, folk song stage, handicraft market, and arts that reflect the soul of Doha. There are also coffee shops and restaurants to try some of local favourite dishes.

CAMEL RACING DOHA

The whole Doha really comes to life with camel racing. It’s essential for you to go feel the vibrant atmosphere of the race first hand because words cannot explain how much the people love camel racing. Once you have experienced it, try not to get addicted to the atmosphere.

SINGING SAND DUNE DOHA

People came all the way around the world to listen to the song of Doha’s “Singing Sand Dune”. The song will seduce you out of the comfort of the cooling shopping mall to the blazing outdoor. Although the song can be scientifically explained as the sound of the sea wind blowing against the hot air of the desert,it’s still fascinating and captivating nonetheless.

SOUQ AL WAQIF

Located in the old Souq Waqif community, Souq Al Waqif is the oldest market in Doha. The unique Arabian architecture of the market has been well preserved, and although contemporary shops and restaurants are allowed in some parts, the overall atmosphere of Souq Al Waqif still uniquely Arabian. You shouldn’t miss the market if you plan to experience local lifestyle and watch the people of Doha hang out at cafés. Souq Al Waqif opens late in the afternoon and closes around midnight.
