Celebrating 500 Awards: Monsoon Valley Elevates Thai Wine on the Global Stage with “500 & Beyond”

Monsoon Valley celebrates a significant milestone, having earned more than 500 awards at national and international wine competitions. This achievement reflects Siam Winery’s unwavering commitment to continuously elevating the quality of Thai wine, from grape cultivation at Monsoon Valley Vineyard in Hua Hin through product research and development and winemaking, to competing on the global stage and earning recognition from international wine experts. Founded in 2001 by Chalerm Yoovidhya, Monsoon Valley was established with a vision to create a wine culture in Thailand. Today, Monsoon Valley Vineyard in Hua Hin is the largest vineyard in the country, spanning a total of 1,000 rai (approximately 160 hectares), including 300 rai (approximately 48 hectares) dedicated to grape cultivation. The vineyard is the birthplace of Thai wines that reflect the distinctive character and terroir of Hua Hin.

Recent Accolades Reinforce the Quality of Both the Wines and the Winery
At the recent AWC Vienna 2026 competition, Monsoon Valley secured four gold medals and was also awarded the prestigious 3-star winery distinction, underscoring the international recognition of its wine quality and high winemaking standards. The gold-medal-winning wines were:

  • Monsoon Valley Rondo Appassimento 2021

  • Monsoon Valley Blended Red 2025

  • Monsoon Valley Cuvée De Siam Rouge 2023

  • Monsoon Valley Shiraz Rosé 2026

In addition, Monsoon Valley has earned recognition at numerous other prestigious international wine competitions, including the Decanter World Wine Awards and the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition. These accolades demonstrate the brand’s consistent ability to compete and succeed among the world’s leading wines. Christopher Paul Carter, Chief Operating Officer of Siam Winery Group, commented on the achievement:

“Monsoon Valley began with a vision to cultivate a wine culture in Thailand and to develop Thai wines that meet world-class standards. Today, our wines have earned recognition both domestically and in international markets, including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Japan, the Maldives, and Hong Kong. “Surpassing 500 awards stands as a testament to the quality of our wines and reinforces the confidence of our consumers and business partners. We are proud to play a part in putting Thai wine on the international map. With ‘500 & Beyond’, we remain committed to continuously raising our standards and creating more opportunities for people around the world to discover and experience Thai wine.”

Suppached Sasomsin, Viticulture, Wine Making and R&D Director added: “Making wine in a tropical climate like Thailand requires a deep understanding of both the land and the climate, as well as a commitment to continuous learning. At Monsoon Valley, we cultivate more than 30 international grape varieties, including Colombard, Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, and Rondo. Each variety has its own distinctive characteristics and responds differently to its environment. We therefore pay meticulous attention to every stage of the process to capture the unique character of Hua Hin—its sea breezes, cool nights, and sandy loam soils enriched with seashells and fossil deposits—and translate these natural elements into high-quality wines that earn international recognition. “More than 500 awards are a source of pride for everyone involved, from our vineyard and harvesting teams to our winemaking teams. They also inspire us to keep improving and push the boundaries of Thai winemaking. For me, the greatest satisfaction in winemaking comes from knowing that people can appreciate the quality of our wines and feel a sense of delight when they discover that the wine in their glass comes from Thailand.”

Alex Albon, the Thai-British Formula One driver and Monsoon Valley brand ambassador, joined the celebrations at Monsoon Valley Vineyard in Hua Hin, sharing his connection with the brand and reflecting on the experiences he has shared over the years. Alex Albon said: “Coming back to the vineyard to celebrate this milestone of 500 international awards means a great deal to me. I have seen first-hand how much dedication and care the team puts into everything they do, and I am proud to be part of this special occasion. Congratulations to everyone at Monsoon Valley. This is an achievement that all Thai people can genuinely be proud of.” This celebration represents a shared sense of pride among everyone behind Monsoon Valley’s success and marks the beginning of a new chapter with “500 & Beyond”. Looking ahead, Monsoon Valley remains committed to elevating Thai wine on the global stage through exceptional quality, distinctive character, and memorable experiences for wine lovers around the world.
