EAT PRAY LOVE (2010)

UP (2009)

Up is a five-star animation about a grumpy old man’s journey to Angel Waterfalls to fulfill the promise to his late wife. Interestingly, he has a creative way of getting there – attaching his house to hundreds of balloons and let it fly! His journey is full of obstacles and good times, and it changes the old man as it would change your perspective once you finished the film.

Best Scene: The final scene of the house by Angel Waterfalls is wonderful and heart-felt.

SAMSARA (2001)

An inspiring love story that will have you look at a different side of life. Samsara is about a young Tibetan monk who renounced the world in order to find spiritual enlightenment, until destiny revealed itself. He met a girl and left his life as a monk to learn about the ‘normal’ life he has never experienced. The spiritual love story takes you to the majestic landscape of Ladakh, Himalayas, and little villages where people live a simple life you wish you had.

Best Scene: The untouched beauty of nature around Ladakh and the formidable, yet attractive Himalayas.

OUT OF AFRICA (1985)

Location: Shaba, Kenya

Based on the life of Karen Blixen, Out of Africa tells a story of Karen’s memorable experience and relationship in Africa where wonderful landscape is roamed by wildlife. The film is some of the first movies to show the world the charming side of Africa.

Best Scene: he ‘Flying Over Africa’ is the first time the world truly witnesses the vast beautiful landscape of Africa from up above.

IN BRUGES (2008)

Location: Bruges, Belgium

Although ‘In Bruges’ is an action-comedy movie, it wittily showcases the distinctive architectures and culture of Bruges. The movie guides you through the charming city and introduces you to interesting information and stories behind it.

Best Scene: The argument scene between Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes has the Church of Our Lady magnificently plays the background.

MASTER AND COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD (2003)

THE BEACH (2000)

Phi Phi Island is the largest island in Nopparat Thara National Park, and it is known as the jewel of the Andaman Sea. With this high reputation, a Hollywood film crew traveled across the world to the island to film the famous ‘The Beach’ movie. The movie showcases the dazzling scenery of Ao Maya and its secret white sand cove surrounded by limestone cliffs. Ao Maya is also a popular diving and snorkeling spot and a heaven for every sea lover. Be sure to check if the park is open as it occasional closes to allow nature to restore itself.

Best Scene: The scene of the characters seeing Ao Maya for the first time has definitely put Phi Phi Island on everyone’s list of the destination to go to!

THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY (2013)

Walter Mitty is a middle-age man setting out on an unexpected adventure to find a missing photo. His journey takes you around the world in an inspiring adventure, but an unforgettable scene of Vatnajökull National Park in Iceland is simply legendary. The millennium old Vatnajökull glacier is the largest ice cap in Europe, and it extends to the Hvannadalshnukur Mountain which is the tallest mountain in Iceland.

Best Scene: The spiritually inspired conversation on Hvannadalshnukur while watching a snow leopard is a masterpiece.
