Thailand’s Youth Equestrian Sport Reaches New Heights as Record 157 Student Riders Compete in 2026 Inter-School Championship
National youth championship brings together 157 horse-and-rider combinations from 97 schools across 18 provinces, competing in four disciplines, with Eventing making its championship debut.
The Thailand Equestrian Federation Under the Royal Patronage, in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education (DPE), is proud to host the 2026 Equestrian Inter-School Championship, to be held from 12–16 August 2026 at the B.Grimm Country Club, known as Thai Polo & Equestrian Clu, Pattaya.
The championship aims to encourage the continued growth of equestrian sports in Thailand while providing young riders from across the country with a valuable platform to develop their skills, gain competitive experience, and progress towards national and international competition.
This year’s championship features four core disciplines: dressage, endurance, jumping, and for the first time in the event’s history, eventing. The eventing competition will feature a one-day format highlighted by an exciting derby course.
Equestrian sport develops not only athletic ability but also discipline, responsibility, resilience, teamwork, and decision-making. Beyond competition, it offers educational and career pathways in coaching, horse management, veterinary science, equine welfare, and sports event management, making it a sport that contributes meaningfully to youth development and society.
Reflecting the rapid growth of equestrian sport in Thailand, this year’s championship welcomes 157 riders and 157 horses representing 97 schools across 18 provinces, generating 247 competition entries across four disciplines. The record participation demonstrates the growing popularity of equestrian sport among Thai youth and the collective efforts of schools, families, and sporting organisations to expand opportunities for the next generation of riders.
“Every champion begins with a dream and an opportunity. This championship is where many young riders take their first steps towards representing Thailand. gives young riders the opportunity to discover their potential, develop their skills, and build the confidence to compete at higher levels. We hope to see these young riders proudly represent Thailand at the SEA Games, Asian Games, FEI Asian Championships, and ultimately the Olympic Games,” said Dr Harald Link, president of the Thailand Equestrian Federation Under the Royal Patronage.
