Shining Giant Christmas Tree and sparkling decoration that blows in warmth and festive glory – Grand Hyatt Seoul’s authentic Christmas design with Margie Lindsay

“Whilst sparkling and shining Christmas can be seen in many Christmas themes, I wanted to bring in the special warmth and glamour to the grand lobby and Grand Hyatt Seoul which delivers warmth of hospitality to each and every one who visits the hotel.” – Margie Lindsay

Grand Hyatt Seoul unveils a radiant Christmas tree that celebrates the joyful beginning of the festive season. Inspired by the hotel’s original Urban Lodge design identity—a blend of refined urban style and the comforting warmth of a mountain retreat—the display has been lovingly crafted by world-renowned florist Margie Lindsay, who has designed the hotel’s Christmas tree for more than 33 years. This year’s installation shines as a symbol of the hotel’s legacy, its welcoming spirit, and the heartfelt warmth that defines the Grand Hyatt Seoul experience.

A Celebration of Heritage and Warmth – Nature’s Comfort Meets Festive Brilliance
The 2025 Christmas tree carries forward the hotel’s long-held design philosophy. Since the 1990s, Margie Lindsay has travelled to Seoul every year to create the hotel’s Christmas decorations—an artistic partnership that began through her connection with architect John Morford, who shaped the foundation of the hotel’s early design.

“John Morford often described Grand Hyatt Seoul as an ‘Urban Country Club,’” Margie Lindsay shares. “This year’s tree continues that vision by reflecting the natural beauty and warmth of a hotel surrounded by the peaceful landscape of Namsan.”

Standing tall in the Grand Lobby, this year’s tree is crafted from a magnificent 6-meter Korean fir sourced from Gangwon Province. Natural accents such as red branches, berries, and rose hips add depth, creating a warm and inviting seasonal atmosphere. A base made of natural logs enhances the lodge-like character of the space, blending rustic charm with the elegance of the city.

To elevate the festive glow, Lindsay added 30cm hand-selected ornaments and ribbon decorations—a collection she designed or curated throughout the year. A harmony of Australian-designed pieces and Korean seasonal materials creates a unique, Seoul-inspired winter ambiance.

Moments of Delight Throughout the Hotel – Festive Stories in Every Space

This year, Margie Lindsay introduced playful and imaginative touches throughout the hotel, inviting guests to discover small moments of joy as they explore each venue.

  • JJ Mahoney’s

Trendy decorative elements and lively motifs—including a football-inspired detail—capture the vibrant spirit of this entertainment space.

  • The Terrace Buffet

A charming fruit-themed tree inspired by the restaurant’s signature selections adds brightness and fun. For children and young guests, Lindsay incorporated whimsical accents, including a delightful ice-cream lollipop tree that transforms the dessert area into a scene full of festive cheer.

  • The Deli

At the hotel’s bakery, a playful dessert tree decorated with cupcake and pastry-inspired ornaments brings sweetness to the holiday atmosphere.

By expressing the character of each venue through tailored decorations, Margie Lindsay ensures that guests encounter a unique Christmas story wherever they go inside the hotel.

Grand Hyatt Seoul’s luminous Christmas tree—crafted with passion, artistry, and more than three decades of tradition—invites guests to celebrate warm, joyful moments with loved ones.
