Ruby Garcia Returns “Home” To Become New General Manager Of Phulay Bay, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Krabi

Luxury hospitality leader brings a fresh perspective to this highly-acclaimed Michelin 3-Key resort, where she previously spent almost three years as Director of Operations and GM

Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the ultra-luxurious seafront sanctuary in Southern Thailand’s Krabi province, is embarking on an exciting new era of leadership following the arrival of its new General Manager, Ruby Garcia, who returns “home” to the place where she previously spent almost three happy and successful years.

A highly effective hospitality leader with more than two decades of experience in the luxury sector across Asia, the Caribbean and USA, Ruby has enjoyed a flourishing career with some of the world’s most prestigious five-star hotel groups, including Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons.

She was appointed Director of Operations at Phulay Bay in 2017, and her success in this role led to Ruby being named as the Reserve’s General Manager in 2018. During this spell she made a lasting impression, creating strong bonds with her team and guests, helping Phulay Bay to attain top-tier guest satisfaction rankings, and overseeing long-term investments.

Following a productive spell as the opening GM of COMO Metropolitan Singapore – the country’s first COMO hotel which she established as one of Singapore’s most prestigious lifestyle destinations – Ruby now returns to Krabi’s pure shores with broader knowledge, fresh perspectives and a deeper appreciation for what makes Phulay Bay truly unique.

Having been named as a “General Manager of the Year” finalist at the 2026 Stelliers Asia Awards, Ruby clearly has high levels of operational ability and commercial acumen. She is passionate about developing strong and confident teams, about mentoring future executives and championing greater representation of women in leadership.

Now, her vision is to build upon Phulay Bay’s stellar reputation, which has seen it achieve three MICHELIN Keys, and to inspire greater connections to the destination through wellness, gastronomy and locally-inspired activities. As luxury hospitality evolves and becomes more experiential, Ruby will focus on providing genuine care and bespoke services to her guests. By enhancing the Reserve experience, she wants to deepen the connection to Krabi, Thai culture and the distinct sense of place that defines Phulay Bay. Much of this focus will come from empowering her team of Ladies and Gentlemen, who are the heart and soul of the resort and personalize every stay.

“Returning to Phulay Bay is incredibly meaningful. In many ways, it feels like coming home to family. There is already so much here that I value, including many elements I know well from my previous time here. I look forward to enhancing the Reserve experience through continued creativity and personalization,” Ruby reveals. “For me, the strongest connection has always been with the people. Phulay Bay has a unique soul, much of which comes from the warmth and genuine care of the team – our Ladies and Gentlemen – who make every stay so magical, and deeply rooted in Thai culture.”
