Resorts World Sentosa and National Arts Council launch Sustainability Arts Fund to champion marine conservation

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS, 圣淘沙名胜世界) and the National Arts Council (NAC) have launched the Singapore Oceanarium by RWS Sustainability Arts Fund under NAC’s Sustain the Arts (stART) Fund. Seeded with a S$200,000 contribution from RWS, this fund will support local arts organisations in creating various immersive art forms at Singapore Oceanarium that will inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation of marine biodiversity and sustainability topics.

In line with the five-year Our SG Arts Plan (2023 – 2027) developed by NAC, with more than 16,500 stakeholders in the public, people and private sectors to guide Singapore’s arts and culture policies, the stART Fund aims to boost the sustainability of small arts organisations while fostering a culture of giving to the arts. Through open calls for proposals, RWS and NAC will collaborate with local arts groups to develop compelling visual installations, performances and other creative expressions that will spark meaningful conversations about marine conservation among Singapore Oceanarium’s guests.

“This collaboration with the National Arts Council reflects our commitment to forging purposeful partnerships that bridge the arts and environmental stewardship,” said Ms Lee Shi Ruh, CEO of RWS (李溪茹圣淘沙名世界行政). “Through the Singapore Oceanarium by RWS Sustainability Arts Fund, we are creating a dynamic platform where artistic expression sparks deeper understanding of our oceans, cultivating both an appreciation for marine biodiversity and the creative arts.”

“NAC is pleased to partner with Resorts World Sentosa on this meaningful initiative that supports the development and visibility of emerging artists, while harnessing the unique power of art to illuminate multi-faceted and global issues like marine conservation,” said Mr Low Eng Teong, Chief Executive Officer of NAC. “Through the stART Fund, we are not only boosting the sustainability of small arts organisations but also providing them an avenue for creative work. A vibrant arts industry in Singapore requires the support of everyone, including private organisations like RWS. We look forward to more like-minded partners and organisations coming onboard to collectively transform Singapore into a distinctive city, with our country as a canvas for the arts.”

Guests can look forward to experiencing Mural Lingo’s art from 23 July 2025 onwards and TRDOco’s performances from 31 July 2025 onwards. Both can be experienced in the Open Ocean zone in Singapore Oceanarium. For detailed timings, please refer to the appendix.
