Quattro Design Unveils the Grandeur of Thai Silk on the Global Stage Through the “Thailand Gallery” in The Hague
On April 8, 2026, Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya presided over the grand opening of the “Thailand Gallery” at the Royal Thai Embassy in The Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands. This momentous occasion reinforces the Royal initiative to elevate Thai textiles and craftsmanship to international acclaim.
In this prestigious collaboration, Quattro Design, the official distributor of the Dutch luxury brand Eichholtz in Thailand—led by Design Director and Founder Ms. Praowphan Laohapongchana—served as the primary Design Curator. The brand played a pivotal role in selecting and translating the exquisite beauty of “Don Koi Thai Silk” from Sakon Nakhon province into the language of global design. Developed under Her Royal Highness’s “Don Koi Model” project, these textiles have been reimagined for the world’s most sophisticated interiors.
This initiative marks a proud milestone for Thailand, as Quattro Design seamlessly bridges the gap between local heritage and international luxury. By integrating Don Koi silk with world-class furniture from Eichholtz, Quattro Design has created a series of “sculptural furniture designs.” These pieces redefine Thai silk as a contemporary design material that speaks fluently to international standards of elegance and innovation.
The Thailand Gallery was conceived by the Royal Thai Embassy in The Hague as a premiere showcase for Thai identity and potential, centered around the themes of “Modernity, Sustainability, and Creative Wisdom.” The gallery offers a multi-sensory experience, blending physical artistry with digital innovation.
The Thailand Gallery features three curated spaces:
The Rose Room: Inspired by the birth color of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari and the regal hues of the Grand Palace. Here, Don Koy textiles are masterfully integrated into contemporary furniture, creating a vibrant, modern dialogue.
The Queen’s Room: A profound tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, capturing a sense of timeless elegance through a palette of azure blue and radiant yellow. The inclusion of yellow draws inspiration from the royal birthday colors of both His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua. When paired with the signature blue, these hues form a classic and sophisticated harmony that reflects an enduring royal grace.
The Gallery: A dedicated space for rotating exhibitions of Thai craftsmanship, supported by high-tech digital displays to offer an immersive educational journey.
Quattro Design provided comprehensive spatial curation and storytelling, ensuring that every textile and furnishing tells a story of cultural value within a modern context.
Beyond the embassy walls, these masterpieces were also featured in a curated window display at the De Bijenkorf Flagship Store in the heart of Amsterdam. This public exhibition successfully introduced Thai design to a global audience, weaving a connection between tradition and contemporary lifestyle.
Ms. Praowphan Laohapongchana expressed her pride in the project: “Collaborating with the Don Koy community and a global brand like Eichholtz proves that Thai silk possesses limitless potential. When reimagined through modern spatial curation and storytelling, it transcends boundaries. This partnership reflects the synergy between diplomacy, the private sector, and the design community in promoting cultural exchange and elevating Thai wisdom to a global standard.”
Quattro Design remains committed to integrating Thai textiles into contemporary design through continued partnerships. The brand aims to develop works that harmonize local wisdom with daily functionality, supporting Thai weavers in adding value to their craft and expanding their reach in the international luxury market.
