Aman retreats around the world are looking ahead to the Lunar New Year, with celebrations set to continue across this auspicious period. The seventh sign of the Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Horse, embodies energy, freedom and vitality — notions that guide Aman’s festive season. From family feasts to a host of age-old traditions, including lantern lighting and Lion Dance performances, guests are invited to come together to mark the occasion and welcome a year of good fortune.

Amanyangyun, Shanghai
Set in the forested outskirts of Shanghai, Amanyangyun offers a serene woodland sanctuary in which to celebrate the Spring Festival. Before the arrival of the Lunar New Year, guests are invited to join a final feast at Lazhu restaurant on 16 February to enjoy Chinese delicacies, accompanied by a traditional Chinese ‘Face Changing’ performance, complete with vibrant masks and costumes. This will be followed by a second performance on 17 February – a dramatic Lion and Dragon dance which will take place beneath the resort’s ancient Camphor trees before, the Spring Festival culminates with a spectacular firework display on 3 March.

Perched atop Lion Hill, Amandayan’s setting overlooking Lijiang Old Town in the shadows of snow-capped mountains forms an atmospheric backdrop for the Spring Festival celebrations. On 16 February, authentic Chinese New Year activities will include colourful calligraphy sessions with an experienced regional Dongba[1] teacher; a nourishing banquet at Man Yi Xuan restaurant showcasing local Naxi cuisine, accompanied by a musical performance and spirited Naxi bonfire dancing late into the night.

Amanpuri, Thailand
On the edge of the Andaman Sea, the original Aman will usher in the Lunar New Year with a carefully curated calendar encompassing dining, wellness, arts and culture. The programme commences on 17 February at the Eco-Beach Discovery Centre with children’s crafts, games, face painting and a traditional Ang Pao Parade followed by piñata breaking. As day turns to dusk, a poolside dinner will take place under the stars with a menu of Chinese specialties featuring the finest ingredients from land and sea. The evening continues with captivating live performance, including a dazzling fire show and the soothing sounds of the Guzheng instrument.
Aman Nai Lert Bangkok, Thailand
Aman Nai Lert Bangkok will celebrate its first Lunar New Year since opening against the lush backdrop of Nai Lert Park. At Aman Lounge and 1872, a dedicated team of mixologists led by Michele Montauti present a selection of aromatic, tea-inspired cocktails. Executive Pastry Chef Florian Couteau further elevates the celebration with a special take on the hotel’s signature Afternoon Tea, choosing the theme of orange – a colour long associated with good fortune and abundance. Each cake’s bright citrus notes set a positive tone for the year ahead.

At Amanoi, Lunar New Year is a celebration of family, blending tranquil moments on golden shores with rich cultural tradition. Each day from 15-21 February, days begin with complimentary wellness sessions or scenic treks through the surrounding national park, followed by group crafts or cookery sessions, including authentic cham weaving or spring-roll making. Each night, ss dusk falls, the Beach Club and Main Restaurant will offer a rotation of one-off culinary experiences, from an evening celebrating Japanese artistry to a Vietnamese-style Night Market. Children will also join in the festivities, with daily craft workshops, fishing and jungle games, bringing generations together to welcome the Year of the Horse.

In Siem Reap – where living heritage and the sacred legacy of the Angkor Empire endure – the auspicious season will be celebrated on 17 February with live music and a cocktail hour on the Roof Terrace, with drinks inspired by traditional herbs and ingredients.
