Le Méridien Phuket launches Season 2 of “Luggage of Love” Four Teams, Four Causes, One Big Heart.

Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort launched Season 2 of “Luggage of Love.” Four Teams, Four Causes, One Big Heart as a focused, hands-on charity drive that united associates, guests, and local partners across Phuket in 2025. Under the leadership of Mr. Julian Lowry and the resort’s department heads, the hotel organized four themed teams Pink Flamingo, Green Turtle, Orange Nemo, and Blue Dolphin, each matched with a local charity to deliver tangible, community-led support.

The resort allocated an initial seed donation of 10,000 THB to each team from previous fundraising, and teams were briefed to design programs that stretched those funds into meaningful action. By mid-year the groups had worked closely with their partner organizations to scope needs and schedule activities for July–November 2025. Operational plans focused on practical benefits: learning aids and sensory play for students at the Phuket Special Education Centre; conservation assistance, beach cleanups, turtle pond cleaning, and public outreach with the Phuket Marine Biological Center; shelter support and educational materials for Child-Watch Phuket Foundation (Baan Lung Pitak); and veterinary funding, rescue logistics and adoption drives with Rawai Animal Lovers – Phuket Rescue, Adoption & Community.

Public engagement began early. The season opened on 6 January 2025 with Four Carnival Fun Games on the Sunset Bar Lawn, a family-friendly fair where guests and staff ran game booths to generate funds; tickets were sold through the hotel desk and proceeds were shared equally among the four charities. By July the teams had completed initial on-site interventions and delivered the first round of donations and materials to partner organisations.

Fundraising was augmented through creative events and associates (hotel staff), driving initiatives designed to widen participation and sustain impact. In addition to flea markets and internal drives, the program planned larger community activities to extend reach and visibility. A 6K Friend & Family Fun Walk at Bang Wad Dam will take place in September’ 2025, offering another chance for residents and visitors to contribute. A Loy Krathong-themed temple fair will be held in November’ 2025 to combine cultural celebration with charitable giving.

Beyond monetary support, Season 2 emphasized volunteerism and measurable outcomes. Four Teams carried out scholarship disbursements, led eco-painting and educational workshops at the Special Education Centre, coordinated marine awareness campaigns with researchers and volunteers, implemented child-focused outreach with social workers, and organized rescue and adoption events for companion animals. These on-the-ground efforts were designed to produce clear, reportable benefits for people, and coastal habitats.

Le Méridien Phuket framed the project as a model of locally rooted, sustainable hospitality philanthropy. The resort positioned the initiative in alignment with Marriott International’s Serve360 values, nurturing the world, sustaining responsible operations, empowering through opportunity, and welcoming all and adopted the resort’s motto, Doing Good in Every Direction. The team aimed to demonstrate that consistent, collaborative action by the private sector can yield practical improvements in education, conservation, child welfare and animal care.

Guests and community members were invited to join existing efforts; additional volunteering and donation opportunities will be announced in the coming months as the project moves into its September and November public events.
