As Thailand’s summer season arrives, Jim Thompson, A Thai Restaurant presents one of the country’s most cherished culinary traditions. Jim Thompson’s Khao Chae Festival is back, celebrating Thailand’s iconic summer dish through a refined dining experience that highlights the heritage and artistry of traditional Thai cuisine within a modern lifestyle moment.
From Saturday 14th March to Sunday 17th of May, this seasonal delicacy will be available for lunchtime sittings at Jim Thompson, A Thai Restaurant in celebration of the Thai New Year. Once served in the royal courts of Siam, Khao Chae is a refined seasonal dish known for its fragrant rice and delicate floral aromas served with infused pure water to refresh and cool during the summer months.
Jim Thompson’s Khao Chae has successfully preserved the authentic identity of traditional Khao Chae, incorporating both the local and royal styles, while adapting it to suit modern tastes. Each step in the preparation is carried out with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the dish maintains its cultural integrity. Offering a refined experience within the unique setting of the Jim Thompson Heritage Quarter, this immersive culinary journey makes for the ideal outing with family or friends to celebrate the long-awaited Khao Chae festival.
Aged Thai jasmine rice, steamed in the traditional methods of the past, is complimented by pure water infused with organic summer flowers. Presented in elegant brassware, the Khao Chae is served with 7 side dishes alongside intricately carved seasonal fruits and vegetables such as green mango, cucumber, fingerroot, and chili peppers—fresh elements that balance and enhance the flavors of each dish. Fried Shrimp Paste Balls uses Kapi paste to provide an umami-packed base that is perfectly balanced by aromatic herbs and spices. Sweet Preserved Chinese Radish with caramelized palm sugar adds a unique texture and a hint of sweetness. Fried Stuffed Green Bell Peppers offers flavorful minced Thai kurobuta pork and shrimp, combined with herbs and spices, wrapped with fried organic egg. Shallot with Fish Stuffing fills savory sundried marinated snake head fish and shallots with a seasoned mixture, blended with aromatic herbs and spices. Sweetened Pork Threads fuses shredded pork with a sweet and savory seasoning from local palm sugar and fish sauce. Fried Dried Large Red Chili Fish Stuffing includes sun-dried fish of the day seasoned with an herb and spice mix, presented in a dried large chili coated with batter and fried until golden brown. Sweeten Eagle Ray, known for its tender and slightly firm texture, is carefully prepared in a sweetened sauce. To conclude the meal, guests can enjoy a refreshing seasonal dessert of Som Chun Lychee with Mayongchid and Mulberries in Syrup, delicately infused with somza zest and Thai jasmine, and finished with organic summer flowers syrup.

The Khao Chae set at Jim Thompson, A Thai Restaurant is priced at 890 Baht++ with only 50 sets allocated to each day over the offer period. The take-away Pinto Set is available at 1,550 Baht net per set (1,450 Baht net per set without canvas bag), with a maximum of 10 sets per day.
Jim Thompson Khao Chae Festival 2026 is available for lunch daily at Jim Thompson, A Thai Restaurant from 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM (Last order at 4:00 PM), between Saturday 14th March to Sunday 17th of May.
