Jim Thompson and Lisa Von Tang Unveil their Exclusive ‘Resort Wear with an Urban Edge’ Collection

Jim Thompson, the iconic global lifestyle brand from Thailand, and Lisa Von Tang, a Canadian-born, Chinese-German designer based in Singapore celebrated for her fearless East-West aesthetic, have joined forces to create a collaborative collection Jim Thompson by LISA VON TANG that redefines modern resort wear. Inspired by chinoiserie details and crafted with iconic Jim Thompson fabrics, the collection brings city resort style to life.

Designed by Lisa Von Tang, with fabric-focused creative contributions from Jim Thompson Creative Director Be Inthavong, the line described as ‘resort wear with an urban edge’ features versatile pieces that transition effortlessly from day to night, work to weekend, and across international style capitals.

Inthavong anchors the collaboration in fabrics deeply rooted in the brand’s DNA – silks, linens, and jacquards quintessentially Thai in origin, balancing flowing and structured materials. Lisa Von Tang reimagines these textiles in bold, contemporary silhouettes, introducing raw edges, sharp tailoring, and fluid cuts for a refreshing balance of heritage and modernity.

“The fabrics had to speak first,” says Inthavong. “They carry Jim Thompson’s DNA. Lisa brought her modern, urban perspective – raw edges, folds, and angles that highlight the fabric’s natural texture, along with unexpected silhouettes. Together, we found the perfect balance – the juxtaposition of Thai heritage textiles with Lisa’s contemporary twist is what makes this collection so compelling. Together, we’ve created something that honors craftsmanship while speaking to a global audience.”

Lisa adds,  “My work has always been about empowerment, an ever-evolving conversation between heritage and modern life, and the fusion of East and West. Here, I saw the chance to create what I call city resort – pieces that are versatile, transitional, and globally relevant, yet anchored in heritage.”

The 14-piece collection features chinoiserie-inspired details such as mandarin collars, Chinese button loops, and structured lines, reimagined through Jim Thompson fabrics in versatile colorways of soft neutrals with a striking pop of blue. Spanning tops, skirts, dresses, and trousers, it is defined by an effortless blend of texture and structure.

Standout pieces include the Leo De Janeiro sleeveless mini dress in blue and white Chinese Porcelain Print, featuring a fitted bodice and asymmetrical flared hem that lend a sculptural edge, along with a sleeveless mandarin-collar crop top and maxi draped skirt that bring a sense of modern ease to the timeless print. A flowing pewter linen maxi follows, defined by a custom macramé mandarin collar and yoke, its fabric carrying a surprising sheer lightness. The focus then shifts to a jacquard ensemble in ivory with drawstring, wide-cut trousers and a fitted top that highlights a mandarin collar–inspired neckline and Chinese detailing. Also featured is a fitted pewter linen vest paired with a finely pleated, semi-sheer skirt in the same shade, its lines moving with quiet grace.

The collection then embraces sophistication with a fitted amber double-breasted blazer in 100% silk and a long-sleeved mini dress with Chinese button details. Complementing these are versatile separates such as wide straight-cut joggers, a high mandarin-collar vest with Chinese buttons, and a short-sleeve mandarin collar top, all designed to mix and match effortlessly.

As both designers note, a well-cut jacket or dress protects and empowers, while a flowing silhouette softens and liberates. Together, the collection balances strength with elegance, heritage with modernity, East with West.

The evening unfolds on the balcony of the Jim Thompson House Museum, where guests will gather amid the timeless beauty of traditional Thai architecture and lush gardens. As dusk deepens, the celebration will move next door to the Jim Thompson Art Center, where a captivating trunk show by Lisa Von Tang and Be Inthavong will bring the collaboration to life. The night will unfold in true Jim Thompson style – vibrant, elegant, and star-studded, with appearances by Sirinya “Cindy” Bishop, Pete Thongchua, Wilailak “Jeng” Thongchua, Apinara “Prang” Srikarnchana, Wannaporn “Duang” Poshyanonda, and Naphaporn “Lek” Bodiratnangkura – a memorable evening that bridges heritage and modern glamour.

The Jim Thompson by LISA VON TANG collection is available across both brands’ channels, including Jim Thompson stores at Surawong, ICONSIAM, Siam Paragon, and Central Phuket Floresta, as well as online at www.jimthompson.com and at Lisa Von Tang boutiques in Singapore.
