Fright This Way: Halloween at The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon

It’s October, which only means one thing — time to get spooked at The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon. With a frightfully good lineup of parties and paranormal affairs, from hair-raising séances to murder mystery dinners, the spooky fair at The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon is set to debut from 18 – 31 October and ends with a bang at Ojo’s biggest night of the year ‘Day of the Dead’ on 1 November.

Dinner to Die For at The Standard Grill

If you prefer your thrills with a side of suspense, step into “Dinner to Die For” on 18 October. Inspired by American Horror Story, The Standard Grill’s murder mystery unfolds over cocktails, a la carte dishes and a cast of suspicious characters. The drama runs from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm.

Possessed at The Parlor

On 25 October, “Dance with Danger” at The Parlor brings fashion and fright together in one high-glam, high-energy bash. THB 650 gets you in the door for DJs back-to-back, bingo breaks, and a best-costume prize worth dressing up for. Penfolds pours rich reds and fine wines to set the mood, while DJ Sonny Amerie and DJ Rui keep the groove alive long past the witching hour.

Too upbeat for your taste? From 24 – 31 October, The Parlor’s “House of Horrors” offers free entry but no guarantees of a safe return from its spooky séance.

No Ease at Tease

For those who like their scares but live for scones, “Trick or Tease” runs all month long at Tease. THB 999++ gets you a Halloween afternoon tea paired with blood-splattered cupcakes that might make you gulp nervously – but they’ll look great in your reels and taste even better, thanks to a wickedly good strawberry note.

Day of the Dead at Ojo

Those willing to delay gratification until 1 November will be handsomely rewarded with the season’s main event: Day of the Dead at Ojo. On a night where the living and departed meet over tacos, cocktails and dancing in the sky, expect a feast by Mexico’s culinary heavyweight Chef Paco Ruano (Latin America’s 50 Best) and Chef Willy Monroy of Milpa, the first Mexican chef in Japan to earn a Michelin star.

Add cocktails from La Copita – Bangkok’s beloved agave bar – and Ojo’s own bar team, plus a towering altar glowing with marigolds, and you’ve got yourself an event worth saving your most spirited Day of the Dead look for. DJs Hijo del Maíz and Rui will keep feet moving with Latin rhythms all night long. Tickets are THB 1,500 and include two drinks and unlimited eats. Tables are available at THB 4,000 for two or THB 8,000 for four, complete with a shot glass, ofrenda candle, marigold flower and more.
