The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa, Phuket, which is nestled in a secluded private cove on Phuket’s south coast, invites guests to celebrate Songkran, Thailand’s iconic water festival, with a full day of cultural rituals, upbeat entertainment and world-class cuisine that will connect all visitors with the authentic spirit of Thai New Year.
Staged every April, Songkran was traditionally marked by the gentle pouring of water to cleanse the body and soul for the year ahead. Today, this national holiday sees local residents and visitors come out onto the streets of towns and cities across the country for fun-soaked water games. On Monday April 13, 2026, The Westin Siray Bay will showcase both sides of this enchanting occasion with a curated series of activities for all ages.
Songkran Day starts at 8:30am with an auspicious merit-making ceremony at Prego by the Beach, overlooking the Andaman Sea. These exquisite cultural traditions then continue at 9:30am with a long drum parade and water pouring in the resort lobby – an elegant ritual that reflects the rich Buddhist heritage of Songkran.
Then it’s time for the fun to begin! From 10:15am, the resort’s Horizon Pool will set the stage for more than four hours of exhilarating entertainment and water games, including a Muay Thai dance performance, sea boxing, ballroom dart games, a dunk tank game, and plenty of water splashing – a wonderful way to cool off during the hottest time of the year. Guests can also enjoy plenty of Thai snacks and refreshments around the pool.
As day turns to night and the sun sets over the Andaman Sea, families, friends and couples can come together for the “Songkran Feast of Flavors” – a bountiful buffet dinner at EEST, the seafront Thai restaurant. From 6-10pm, this vibrant dining experience will transport diners on culinary journey across the kingdom, with open kitchens presenting a series of regional dishes, including local Southern Thai specialties.
A dedicated live station will see chefs craft Khao Man Gaeng Gai (Southern-style chicken with coconut rice), while a Noodle & Grill Station will serve Mee Hoon Gaeng Poo (Phuket-style crab curry with rice noodles), Khao Soi Goong Yang (Northern Thai-style noodle curry with grilled prawns), Pla Phao Klua (whole salt-crusted sea bass with tamarind sauce), and Gai Go-Lae (Southern-style marinated chicken). A Wok Station will showcase a choice is sizzling dishes, and the Yam Bar will let guests savor Thailand’s famous spicy salads, including Plah Talay (spicy seafood salad with Thai herbs) and Som Tum Thai (Northeast-style papaya salad).
These live stations will be accompanied with an amazing array of Thai dishes, including enticing appetizers, sublime soups, aromatic curries, stir-fries and more. The evening can then end on a sweet note with a choice of traditional Thai desserts, including Khao Neaw Mamuang (mango with sticky rice), O-Aew (Phuket-style shaved ice with jelly), freshly cut tropical fruit, and a live station serving Khanom Krok (mini coconut puddings).
