Bar.Yard Celebrates Peruvian National Day With Five Days Of Food, Pisco And Live Music
Chef Julio César Concha Muñoz Brings the Flavours of Home to Bangkok's Boldest Rooftop
This July, Bar.Yard at Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok invites guests to celebrate Peruvian National Day with five days of vibrant flavours, live entertainment and authentic Peruvian hospitality led by Chef Julio César Concha Muñoz.
Running from 24 – 28 July 2026, the celebration pays tribute to Peru’s Independence Day on 28 July through a specially curated menu inspired by the country’s rich culinary traditions, alongside a month-long showcase of classic pisco cocktails. For Chef Julio, the occasion is deeply personal.
Born and raised in Peru, Chef Julio has built his culinary career across Latin America before bringing his Pan-Latin perspective to Bangkok. Most recently from Rio de Janeiro’s Michelin-recognised Ocyá Leblon, he now leads Bar.Yard’s kitchen, where Latin flavours, Thai ingredients and a spirit of celebration come together on the rooftop.
“Peruvian cuisine is about sharing, culture and joy,” says Chef Julio. “Peruvian National Day is one of the most important celebrations back home, and I’m excited to bring a taste of Peru to Bangkok through the dishes I grew up with and the flavours that continue to inspire me today.”
THE FOOD
Available throughout the celebration period, guests can explore an exclusive Peruvian menu featuring some of the country’s most beloved dishes. Fresh seafood takes centre stage with classics including Ceviche Clásico, Ceviche Carretillero (fresh fish marinated in lime juice, topped with crispy seafood and inspired by Peru’s street food culture) and Fish Tiradito al Ají Amarillo (thinly sliced fresh fish dressed in a creamy yellow chilli sauce), showcasing Peru’s world-famous coastal flavours.
From the grill, traditional Beef Heart and Pork Belly Anticuchos bring the smoky street-food traditions of Lima to Bangkok, while hearty mains such as Lomo Saltado (Peruvian-style stir-fried beef tenderloin), Ají de Gallina (shredded chicken in creamy Peruvian yellow chilli and walnut sauce), Seco de Res (slow-braised beef stew) and Arroz con Mariscos (Peruvian-style seafood rice) celebrate the country’s diverse culinary influences. Guests seeking a more immersive experience can opt for specially curated tasting experiences, each designed to showcase different aspects of Peru’s celebrated food culture.
No Peruvian feast would be complete without dessert, with traditional favourites including Suspiro a la Limeña (dulce de leche cream topped with meringue) and Alfajores (shortbread sandwich biscuits filled with dulce de leche) rounding out the experience.
THE DRINKS
The festivities extend beyond the National Day period with a special cocktail programme available throughout 1–31 July 2026, spotlighting Peru’s iconic national spirit, pisco.
Highlights include Chirulín, a vibrant tribute to Afro-Peruvian celebrations, blending Demonio de los Andes Pisco Acholado with pink grapefruit, cinnamon and lime; Chilcano Pisco Highball, a refreshing combination of Demonio de los Andes Pisco Quebranta, lime, bitters and ginger ale; Pisco Sour, the country’s most iconic cocktail, crafted with Demonio de los Andes Pisco Acholado, fresh citrus, bitters and egg white.
THE ENTERTAINMENT
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Bar.Yard will host a series of live performances and DJ sets throughout the celebration period.
On 24 and 28 July, guests can enjoy live performances by Siam Cubano featuring Lilly V, bringing Latin rhythms and contemporary sounds to the rooftop.
On 25 July, the stage welcomes Buhonero, delivering an energetic evening of live music and entertainment.
Keeping the momentum going throughout the celebrations, DJ Camilo will take over the decks on 24, 25 and 28 July, bringing high-energy Latin-inspired beats late into the night.
