Bar Sathorn Rises to No.17 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026, Winning the Nikka Highest Climber Award

This marks the second consecutive year that Bar Sathorn has earned a place on this prestigious annual list, rising from its debut ranking of 48 in 2025. The achievement reflects the bar’s ongoing commitment to reimagining Bangkok’s social scene with creative mixology, art led interiors, and an upbeat vibe, while demonstrating its determination to continue striving for excellence in the years ahead.
Set in The House on Sathorn, a restored mansion juxtaposed against the sleek 31 story W Bangkok tower, this audacious venue sets the stage for inspiring evenings with family and friends. Originally constructed in 1889 as a private residence, The House on Sathorn later served as a luxury hotel and the Russian Embassy, before being revitalized by award winning design experts AvroKO and reopened in 2015 as one of the city’s most captivating social venues. Bar Sathorn was relaunched in 2023 with an eclectic design concept that honors more than 135 years of heritage, including striking artworks by exciting young Thai artists.
Led by Marco Dongi, the talented Italian Bar Manager, Bar Sathorn invites guests to step into a world of art and mixology. Over the course of his stellar career, Marco has showcased his skills at top hotels, bars, and restaurants worldwide, including the Michelin starred Carlo Cracco Restaurant in Milan and the world famous Buddha Bar in Dubai. He achieved top 10 finishes in World Class competitions in Italy and Dubai, and was named a brand ambassador for Coca Cola in 2020.

Bar Sathorn’s signature cocktails and mocktails have escorted guests on a multi-sensory journey through the four historical eras of The House on Sathorn. The “History of Sathorn” (1888–1926) celebrates the origins of the cocktail scene with timeless drinks, while “Hotel Royal” (1926–1948) captures the glamorous era of Madame Staro with Italian-inspired creations. The “Embassy Row” (1948–1999) honors Sathorn Road’s diplomatic past with global cocktails elevated by bold Thai spices. Finally, “The Present” (1999–today) reflects how Bar Sathorn blends historical charm with modernity through inventive drinks. Looking ahead, the bar is preparing its next chapter of cocktail storytelling, turning its gaze outward to the Sathorn area itself, the very origin of The House on Sathorn. Future creations will weave flavors, stories, and creativity inspired by local places and the surrounding community, continuing Bar Sathorn’s tradition of blending heritage with innovation.
