Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hosts “Sustainable Stays” Event to Champion Greener Hospitality
Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, the landmark hotel nestled in the heart of the Thai capital, reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability on October 31st, 2025, by hosting “Sustainable Stays”, an immersive event that brought together government officials, NGOs, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to exchange ideas for a greener future.
Staged in the hotel’s 5th floor Sala Thai Ballroom, this afternoon of innovation was attended by the hotel’s public and private sector partners, entrepreneurs, NGOs and other stakeholders, who were able to enjoy a deep dive into the latest sustainability topics and trends with expert presentations and panel discussions.
A keynote address from Dr. Bank Ngamarunchot, Director of the Science Technology & Innovation Policy Institute (STIPI), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, highlighted key insights on tourist perspectives, behaviors, and expectations regarding sustainability, as well as the “EU Green Deal” and how sustainability can enhance Thailand’s global competitiveness. Discussing the topic of “Charitable Service,” Ms. Kru Prateep Ungsongtham Hata, Founder of the Duang Prateep Foundation, shared lessons from over 40 years of service, during which she has strived to make Klong Toei a model for urban development through education, housing, aid, and collaboration, to foster safer, greener communities and empower future generations.
Lively panels then covered key issues in sustainable hospitality. The “Successful Green Collaboration” session highlighted Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park’s pioneering Oyster Shell Waste Fire Retardant Project, while the “Effective Communication for Green Initiatives” panel gained insights from two prominent environmental influencers, Kong-Chanat Wutthivigayakarn(KongGreenGreen) and Pear-Pimlada Chaipreechawit (PEAR is Hungry), moderated by Yu-Katanyu Sawangsri from Katanyu Tonight.
This immersive afternoon then concluded with Assoc. Prof. Tavida Kamolvej, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, who shared her vision for “Sustainability and Resilient Cities,” including initiatives to promote urban sustainability, environmental risk management, disaster prevention, and the promotion of eco-tourism – all aimed at making the city more livable for its millions of residents and visitors.
With more than 40 booths for attendees to explore, presenting eco-friendly services and solutions, this event provided an outstanding opportunity to connect green organizations and hotels, expand the sustainability community, and provide insights into how the hotel is creating more sustainable stays.
Simon Bell, General Manager of Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, said: “Sustainable Stays is more than an event – it’s a platform for collaboration and innovation, shaping a responsible future for Thailand’s hospitality industry. I would like to thank everyone who attended for making this occasion such a success, and helping to advance the critical issue of sustainability in hospitality.”
