Awakening Bangkok 2025: LOVEVERCITY

The Light and Digital Art Festival Returns with “LOVEVERCITY” Theme, Illuminating Phra Nakhon with the Radiance of Love from December 12–21

The light and digital art festival “Awakening Bangkok 2025” returns once again, celebrating inspiration and creativity through spectacular light experiences. Now in its 8th edition overall and its 3rd year in the historic Phra Nakhon district, the festival will illuminate the city from December 12–21, 2025.

Under the compelling theme “LOVEVERCITY,” the festival communicates the idea that “The City is the Starting Point of Love in Various Dimensions.” This year, 27 light and digital art installations will brighten the historical heart of Bangkok.

Organized by Friday, a lifestyle brand dedicated to energizing Bangkok with color and creativity, the festival is proudly supported by Mitsubishi Electric, SangSom, and Homproung by Baihor, together with key partners including the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), The Old Siam Plaza, Yodpiman River Walk, Talat Yodpiman, and AMA Hostel. Following the success of Awakening Song Wat 2025, this marks the second light and digital art festival in Bangkok this year. Its mission remains to highlight the role of light festivals in boosting the night-time economy and revitalizing the old town.

Mr. Pongsiri Hetrakul, Director of the Awakening Bangkok Festival, stated:
“This year, we wanted Awakening Bangkok 2025 to tell a story that everyone can connect with through the ‘LOVEVERCITY’ theme. It reflects love in many forms—romantic love, friendship, family love, love for the city, and the feeling of being loved—conveying that love exists everywhere and is a powerful force that connects people. These ideas are expressed through 27 light and digital art installations that reveal new perspectives of Bangkok as a living city filled with memories and love. We hope Awakening Bangkok 2025 will attract both local and international visitors to experience Phra Nakhon after dark, making the old town more vibrant than ever.”

Four Key Historical Zones to Explore

Awakening Bangkok 2025 spans four main zones, including returning favorites and newly added areas.

Returning Zones

  • Pak Khlong Talat Area: Featuring Pak Khlong Talat (Flower Market), Talat Yodpiman, Yodpiman River Walk, and Ratchini Pier.

  • Sam Yot Area: Light and digital art installations at Rommaninat Park.

New Zones This Year

  • Saphan Phut Area: Highlighting the Post and Telegraph Building (Praysaneeyakarn) and Suan Phra Pok Klao.

  • Wang Burapha Area: Main venues include The Old Siam Plaza, Khlong Ong Ang, Queen’s Theater, and Homproung Café by Baihor.

Each location is a significant landmark in Phra Nakhon, rich with Bangkok’s history and cultural memory.

Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, commented:
“Over the past seven years, Awakening Bangkok has demonstrated the power of light art in reshaping perceptions of the city while continuously boosting Bangkok’s economy and tourism, especially in Phra Nakhon. The event invites people to walk the streets again, rediscover the value of old areas, and see them in a new light. I believe Awakening Bangkok 2025 will continue this success and strengthen Bangkok’s position as a key year-end travel destination.”

Mr. Saharath Pohthito, Deputy Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Bangkok Office, added:
“Awakening Bangkok helps expand the image of Bangkok as a creative, contemporary city. Holding the event in a historic district like Phra Nakhon encourages visitors to spend more time in the area, redistributing tourism revenue and supporting the national economy. TAT hopes this festival will further elevate Bangkok on the global stage and reinforce its identity as a truly sleepless tourist city.”

Dr. Suppawan Tairat, Director of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), stated:
“Awakening Bangkok 2025, under the LOVEVERCITY concept, blends art and light with diversity. It acts as an important platform that reflects Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), in line with TCEB’s mission to support events that champion equality. By leveraging the district’s cultural and historical assets, the festival helps create economic value and transforms the area into a vibrant creative economy hub. This not only attracts visitors but also stimulates spending that benefits local entrepreneurs, supporting the government’s creative economy policy. Awakening Bangkok 2025 is more than a light festival—it is a driver for Thailand’s MICE industry and strengthens Thailand’s position as a ‘Global Festival Destination’ that celebrates diversity and creativity.”

Representing the private sector sponsors, the Mitsubishi Electric Group shared:
“Awakening Bangkok 2025, under the LOVEVERCITY concept, will not only illuminate Phra Nakhon with the light of love but also spark inspiration and revitalize the old town. To support this, Mitsubishi Electric is presenting its installation ‘Betterverse: A Better World… Starts Here,’ blending art, science, and technology. It conveys the belief that ‘Where there is a desire to change, a better world is waiting,’ encouraging younger generations to drive change through creativity, much like our commitment to developing innovations that bring better value to society.”

The SangSom brand added:
“Although SangSom is widely known as a beloved Thai spirit brand, its core essence has always been rooted in making ‘art’ accessible to everyone. We believe Thai people possess remarkable creativity and artistic skill, but often lack support or recognition. This is why SangSom is committed to contributing to this space, confident that when Thais set their minds to something, they can achieve excellence.”
