Ranging from deep purple to pale lilac in colour, the beautifully scented lavender flower is a symbol of high summer. It is blessed with essential oils and when used in cuisine the bloom imparts a delicate sweet floral flavour. These attributes have inspired the talented pastry chefs at The Okura Prestige Bangkok to create the Lavender Delight Afternoon Tea at Up & Above Bar.
From July to September guests can indulge in sweet temptations that include lavender macarons with blueberry, lavender and chocolate; wild blueberry jam & cream roll; quark cheese cake; cream daifuku; lavender & blueberry tartlet with blueberry custard; and black currant & lavender scones. All make the perfect companion to a cup of rich illy coffee or freshly brewed premium Saro and Mariage Frères tea.
Of course, the best afternoon teas also feature savoury bites and sandwiches and the Lavender Delight Afternoon Tea won’t disappoint with fabulous fare such as white asparagus crème brûlée with lemon zest; smoked salmon and cucumber sandwich on pumpernickel; crab rémoulade vol-au-vent with caviar; and fresh goat cheese and tapenade with red pepper and olive crouton. These scrumptious offerings pair beautifully with a glass of chilled Champagne or Prosecco.
The Lavender Delight Afternoon Tea is available from 1 July -30 September 2017, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. daily at Up & Above Bar priced Baht 1,190++ inclusive of premium coffee or tea for two persons; Baht 1,690++ with Sake (250 ml) or with two glasses of Prosecco; Baht 2,750 with two glasses of Champagne.
